I don't care. Whatever you all want is fine, and I'll learn to use it.
But I think this conversation illustrates how "focused" the thinking is on these issues. I'm sure many will hate me for saying this, but I feel what AE needs most is for the UI folks on the PS + AE + AI + PP + AU + other teams to sit down together and look at their common feature sets, and seriously overhaul their keyboard shortcuts and the UI of all those little core features they share and bring them in line with each other. Then put mechanisms in place so that when one team dreams up an awesome new feature or shortcut, somebody asks if this would benefit other apps just as much (or more).
They've done a great job making the apps look the same, but they don't act the same. Users should be rewarded for their knowledge of one app when they need to spend a few minutes in another, instead of being penalized by false cognates in the paradigm. After using AE for a year, I was lost when I open Photoshop, and I'm still lost when I open AI.
There's a ton of shared paradigms between apps. Timelines, playheads, projects, layers, blend modes, tools, and on and on. They could work the same, but they don't. Duplicate shouldn't be Cmd+D in one app, Cmd+J in another app, and Shift+Cmd+/ in a third. Jump to playhead should be the same in AE and PP. Once you elegantly right-click-drag to zoom in AU, you'll keep trying to do it in AE and PP and get frustrated everytime it doesn't work. Undo (the useful one) doesn't need to have a Shift modifier in Photoshop (but nowhere else).
Many of the other tools like color pickers and snapping and pen tools could do better at sharing the same little UI elements and enhancements.
I realize this would be a big painful change for everybody, but if managed well (and if the teams work more closely on new features in the future), it would be a one-time calibration. As it is now, I feel like I could detect and map out all the silos in Adobe's internal organization simply by using the UIs of their apps.

Sorry, I know this is exactly what you didn't ask for. And I don't mean this to sound flam-y at all. You guys have incredible engineers. Whatever is fine by me for the "U" key.
(There's a great shortcut editor with a built-in search that would help solve this problem, but it's in PP.)
