How can I make images merging with ink in the water?

Hello guys.

I would like to make a project with after effects.

After doing this manual work, I wanna use after effects to do an effect like that: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wOUhXtqFLPo

If you see  there is a merge of images/scenes mixing with the smoke. In my case while the ink drop in the water, I want some images mixing with the ink.

Is there possible?
