Is there a direct download link for AE 12.1? Many problems trying to update.

I haven't seen this issue resolved anywhere in the forum...

I have had so many problems and wasted a whole day (and a half) on trying to ressolve this when I should have been working.

No surprises that I have installed OS Mavericks recently. Yesterday I was prompted to update the Creative Cloud desktop app, which I did without issue.

I tried to open After Effects CC and got the infamous error everyone's been getting:

So after Googling, I saw that there had been a 12.0.1 patch, but that it was no longer nesessary to install as there is a new version 12.1 - but Creative Cloud Desktop shows that my software is up to date:

So I have been hunting for the direct links and managed to get hold of both the 12.0.1 and the 12.1 update files:

But when I try to run ether of them, I get this message:

I am the 'Administrator' and don't understand why I am getting this error.

I've tried uninstalling/reinstalling all adobe products. On one occasion upon opening AE I got this error:

I've also tried updating through other CC software via the Help > Updates menu. In Photoshop and Premiere the option is greyed out, and in Bridge I get a similar Admin issue error:

So I am thinking perhaps I could try installing a direct download of the full version of 12.1 rather than an update. Does this exist anywhere? Any help would be hugely appreciated!

Thanks
