How do I zoom in on a dynamically linked Premiere image sequence?

I've made a sequence of still images in Premiere, for a stop motion animation I'm working on. I shot the images at high res so that I'd have plenty of pixels to work with when it came time for zooming in and panning, etc., without losing image quality. I want to start the sequence totally zoomed out, and zoom in to a particular area. When I laid out the sequence in Premiere, I changed the Scale of each image to 37.3%, so that the entire image would appear.

I can't zoom in on the image sequence in Premiere, because the zoom keyframe won't carry over multiple images. So, I dragged the sequence into After Effects (thus creating a dynamic link), where I planned to do all my zooming and panning effects. However, in After Effects the Scale is suddenly no longer 37.3%, but 100%, which means that if I zoom in on a particular area, I'm going to get that graininess, like if I were zooming in on a low-res picture.

To try and work around this, I went back to Premiere and scaled all the images to 100%, cutting off much of the image outside the view area. In Premiere I was at least still able to move the position from side to side, and see the parts of the image that were cut off. However, when I go back to After Effects, and try to move the position from side to side, or scale out of the image, the sides are cut off. The image file itself was not preserved, apparently; I'm only able to see what was in the Premiere view area.

So, that's my trouble with zooming / panning across an animation image sequence in Premiere / After Effects. Please help!
