If I import an Adobe Illustrator file into Adobe After Effects will After Effects allow me to edit each Illustrator layer with it's own motion graphics on it's own timeline layer?

Need help with audio spectrum
Hello everyone, hope you have a good day,
So, I have a project for someone including a somewhat unique audio spectrum. The element is a hipster's head, and he wants it to be bobbing from left to right, right to left... not the classic method from back and forth. Do you have any ideas on how can I achieve this effect ?

How to parent a point of a shape to a layer
Hello,
Is there a way to parent/link a point of a shape to a layer's position ?
I would like to be able to move/animate a layer and have the vertex of a shape following it live.
I did some search but haven't found a solution for this.

Two error messages I am receiving: After Effects warning: Fresh layer cache checkout failed and After effects error: Cached preview needs 2 or more frames to playback
How do I fix these two error messages I am recieving.

2.After Effects warning: fresh layer cache checkout failed
After effects was working fine two days ago and now I can not preview or do anything. I have restarted AE several times and my computer, same issue keeps happening.

Settings for best render performance
First I'd like to say hello to everyone
I have a question about AE settings for my Notebook to achieve best render and editing performance.
My hardware:
MSI PE70 2QE notebook
i7-5700HQ
16GB RAM
1TB 7200 RPM HDD
250GB SSD M.2 Samsung 850 EVO
NVIDIA GTX960M
& Windows 8.1 operating system
Actually thing is which drive should be used for operating system, adobe ae app, project files, render file, and cache.
I have no space for another hard drive so I have to be satisfied with what I have. Later on I'd like to add more memory.
For now I have OS and APP on HDD and Cache set for SSD.
I will be grateful for any suggestions

After Effects CC 2017 update not downloading
Hi
I am running CC 2015 and just installed CC 2017. The installation worked fine through Adobe Cloud App.
Then I wanted to install the latest updates:
All updates download and install fine except After Effects.
I went through everything with an Adobe agent. He did several things, even re-installed AE.
As the errors is 117 I checked everything. Firewalls etc. are off in the modem and the Mac.
No management software and no virus software are installed.
I even tried a different network bit it did not work.
The AE download always stops around 22%.
(Again e.g. Premiere update downloaded perfectly fine and was installed without a problem)
I think it is the file that is causing the problem. There are other people having the same issue as well !
Unfortunately there is no direct download available for the update.
But without the update AE cc 2017 is useless !
ADOBE PLEASE HELP. It is not our internet connections and it is NOT error 117 as it seems !!!!!!!!

After Effects CC:
Hello.
I have a Mac ProBook laptop and the version of After Effects I am using is CC. I am having trouble viewing animations I've created, the speed of the clips run real slow. Prior to creating them, I received the following notices:
Could this explain why the speed of my animations are running so slow? If so, how can correct this?

Incredibly slow preformance since 14.1
As per usual with AE updates, its one step forward and two steps back.
Since updating my performance in AE and render times in AME has decreased almost tenfold, renders take hours (that before took minutes).
I've tried changing to OpenCL, Metal and Software, reseting settings, emptying chaces, reinstalling, reseting SMC etc. No luck.
Im just wondering if anyone else is having this problem? I presume ill just have to go back to 14.0 in the meantime.

After Effects Audio Spectrum Cut Off?
Cant seem to get the audio to go past the blue line? How can I resize the boundaries, without resizing or messing with the audio spectrum circle?

AE CC2017 error Can't type foreign language, VDO output choices disappear, crash after try to set "preference"
I found 3 problems as following,
1. Every time I try typing Foreign language even just 1 letter, AE crashed. Now I can't work for my client using my country's language.
2. Last year I still have normal VDO output options but now most of them disappear and leave me with little choices to choose VDO quality.
3 AE crash everytime I go to edit > preference > general or any option here. So now I can't access "preference menu"

So Adobe just recently start crashing when going into prefences, I have tried the Command + Option + Shift thing on start up, but nothing showed up really need some help.

Superhero Henshin: Where to Start?
I'm not sure if I'm posting this in the right place, so feel free to remove it if this kind of question is better asked somewhere else.

I'm really not sure where to start, at all. What are the key skills I should be learning / refining to move up to something like this? What would I need to keep in mind while filming?

Blackmagic output lag in a UHD comp
This has always been an issue. I was half expecting it to be fixed for the latest AE release but of course the devs have been too busy adding pointless 3D renderers rather than actually fixing the huge problems in the playback engine.
In a 25fps UHD comp the preview from the Blackmagic Intensity Pro 4k lags behind the main display by a huge amount, we're talking seconds here, not just frames and it gets worse the longer the preview plays for. No issues at HD and I get realtime playback in UHD with Resolve and Premiere so there's no blame to be put on the BM card, just AEs shocking Mercury Playback engine. This basically means that as of 2017 AE is still incapable of playing back UDH footage to an external monitor. Nice job adobe.

Can't play anything in AE without app crashing
Regardless of how complex my composition is, anytime I try to playback anything in AE I get a pinwheel and the composition plays back over and over and over. The spacebar doesn't stop it and I can't click anything in the app anymore. The only way out of it is to Force Quit the app and reopen the project file.

RAM reserved for other applications is 6 GB, putting ram available for AE at 58GB.
My computer should be able to handle playing back in real time a simple text layer keyframed on top of a 4-second 1080 ProRes clip. Instead it drags to a crawl at 10-14fps and won't let me hit stop.
The app worked fine until the 2017 release. Now I can only use AE by scrubbing through the timeline. I can't play. I can't hit play. This is really dumb.

After Effects/C4D on imac 5k / Sierra = Very slow
Hello,
I know this issue has been discussed before but I'm still looking for an answer to my problem.
I'm running the latest version of After Effects CC (14.0.1.5), OS Sierra (10.12.2) .
My machine :
iMac 5k - late 2015
4 GHz intel i7
32 GB 1867 MHz DDR3
AMD Radeon r9 M395X 4096 MB
250 GB Flash Storage
Example of the problem :
I start AE, I create a composition, then a new Cinema 4D layer. This is where my problems begin, spinning wheel is showing and I take up to 20 seconds before C4D reacts. I create a simple object, a cube, I save my C4D document and then return to AE. I can't see the cube, only a black layer is showing up.
In Cineware, the renderer is set to Software, if I set it to Standard (Draft or final) I can see the cube but I can't work, everything I do make the wheel spinning, it is very slow.
I tried a lot of things :
- Changed resolution/fast previews of the comp
- Playing with the Cineware Port - I scanned the ports and 5030 is open - surfpass
- Uninstall / Reinstall AE
- Flush all my third party plugins
- Turn off WI-FI and Ethernet
- Purge Memory
I always get the same result, a very slow result...
I know an iMac is not the perfect machine for 3D rendering, but I think there's a problem somewhere...
If someone can help, it would be greatly appreciated !

Colour Management - Log Footage Embedded Profile being read as Rec709, Can't Change
I'm doing some quick compositing for a series that was shot in LogC; they need the composited files delivered back in LogC, so everything matches when they deliver it to colour for grading.
I'm trying to set up colour management in the project, but the footage has an HDTV (Rec.709) embedded colour profile, and AE won't let me change it.
The workflow I've used in the past is based on Chris Zwar's great video explaining how to work with Alexa footage:
- Go into Project Settings, change Depth to 32bpc
- Change Working Space to sRGB
- Interpret Footage > Main > Colour Management - Assign the footage a Colour Profile (Universal Camera Film Printing Density)
From that point, it's pretty straigthforward to work with a properly displayed space, then render out using the same Universal Camera Film Printing Density profile to maintain the Log.
I'm using AE CC2015.2; I've tested this with the same footage in CC2014, and have the same issue. Is there something I'm doing wrong? If not, is there a way to remove or change the embedded colour profile from the footage? Can anyone suggest a workaround? I've got a LUT that the production set up that they're using as a target, but I don't understand how to apply a LUT to the footage and still render out a final product in Log.

Changing language of AE CC 2015 to english
Hi!
I've been looking in the web for tutorials and guides to change my AE CC 2015 from spanish to english. Most of them say I need to go into the AMT Languages and change it from es_ES to en_US but I don't have such folder in my AE... I'm border line of madness here!
I have a Macbook pro 15" with Intel Core i7, OS X El Capitan 10.11.5.
I've also tried looking into preferences, but there is no option to change language.
I'd love some help =D

Caps Lock error message
Hi all,
I'm using adobe after effects cs3, and sometimes I get the error message as show on the red line at the lower section of my image in my attachment image file which reads:
"Refresh Disabled(release Caps Lock to refresh view)"
This error message actually affects some actions my after effects project.
Please, does anyone know how I can solve this problem or how to "release Caps Lock to refresh view "
