Preferences Appearance Bug - will not reset OSX 10.12.1, AE 14.1.0.57

I wondered if anyone else has seen this bug. I just reported it.

 

It might be a good idea to turn off Sync preferences before you try this. Here's what you do:

 

Open Preferences>Appearance and set the UI brightness all the way to lighter. Click OK and the UI is now set to the lightest setting. Now open Preferences>Appearance again and move the UI Brightness all the way to darker or press the Reset button. The UI changes back to darker. Click OK and the UI returns to the lightest setting. Open up Preferences>Appearance again and the slider is all the way to the left and pinned on Darker but the UI is still light. Touch the slider and the UI changes as it should but the changes will not stick. The only way I have found to get the UI back to my preferred darker setting is to delete the preferences file. This is easiest do to by holding down all of the keys on the right side of the keyboard (Shift + Alt/Option + Ctrl/Cmnd) while you open AE and saying yes to the popup. This is a bit of a pain because I have created a bunch of custom settings for Output Module and Render Settings that all have to be redone. Unfortunately I had sync turned on so it fouled up all of the machines I work on before I realized what had happened.

Tracking Crashes After Effects 2017

Hello Everyone.

I have the Latest After Effects Installed in my computer. Every time I want to use Tracking It Crashes, and It Freezes.

I have used different Clips, and its a same Issue

I also Tried The Foundry Tracker And its a same Issue.

AE Not evaluating precomped expressions

This is strange (or par for the course, I suppose).   I have a number of shapes with wiggle expression pre-composed.

In the main composition, when I drag the CTI the expressions evaluate fine.  But when i play back,  via whatever the preview is called now, the expressions DO NOT evaluate.   It's not a refresh issue because when I stop the preview the shapes do not jump to a new position.

I've tried different resolutions.

I've tried with and without rasterization.

& I've tried rendering to a final format.

For whatever reason the expression evaluate when I drag the CTI but not on playback or rendering.

Latest greatest version of After(thought) Effects

Audio preview skips first second, CC 2017 included.

Always, when I ram preview in AE (even if everything is already cached), the audio plays just a couple of frames then there is no audio for a second or two and then it plays almost normal (sometimes there are other audio skips, it seems when starts another audio layer).

 

I had this problem in AE CC 2015, then there was un update that solves the problem (CC 2015.3 I guess). But when I upgraded to CC 2017 the problem came back again, and now that I have tried to re install CC 2015.3 I still have the same problem.

 

I'm using AE on windows 10. I've noticed that, if I uncheck "mute audio when preview is not Real-Time" option in Preferences, the problem disapper, but the audio slow pitch is very annoying.

 

Please tell me how to solve it, I'm wasting a lot of time.

Hey guys. I have an odd 'bug' happening.

I've looked this up but it is all for the overflow ratio of 17:18 - which heeds no help at all. I'm able to make the entire video and play it back using RAM Preview, but when and ONLY when I go to export and render it, it gets caught at a specific frame and pops this error message up. Anyone who knows how to fix this and is willing to share their knowledge on the subject is extremely appreciated here.

 

I wish there was a better way to show you than a long video, but I can't seem to get AE to render. Skip around after the renderring starts to see when or how this error pops up.

Wacom tablet problem with After Effects

Hi there,

 

I'd been using a wireless Intuos Pro on windows 7 with After Effects no problem until the latest update. Now running After Effects CC version 14.1.0.57 and "click and holding" causes jumping.

 

For example when trying to scrub on the timeline - the position on the timeline will massively jump. Or when trying to when scrub numerical values - the numbers will massively jump. This happens when the pen movement even slightly pauses (so pen is still pressed but we temporarily pause the scrub, effectively a click and hold). The scrub jumps back to correct position when the pen starts to move again. The effect is all over the place, jittery jumping numbers and timeline position!

 

I've noticed that it also seems to be registering that change in state of the pen movement in Photoshop when drawing. If I pause drawing a line (but keeping the pen pressed - effectively a click and hold) the cursor disappears as if it's trying to perform another action, until the pen starts moving again. Although this doesn't effect the usability of Photoshop.

 

It's something that has only just appeared, so I assume possibly during the recent Adobe update. It's making AE almost unusable with a Wacom!

 

Currently on the most up to date Wacom driver (and we've tried rolling back to previous Wacom driver). Any help much appreciated!

Output process when there's only a small change here and there

Hello there,

 

I'm in the process of outputting an AE project that takes about 7 hours to render out, but there's a good chance that the client will make a couple of tweaks here and there after the render has been done. Can someone tell me the best way to output the project once and then just make the little changes without having to output the full project again (I just don't have the time if I'm to meet the deadline)? Someone mentioned doing a targa sequence, but I didn't know if this was the best route to go down?

AE 14.1.0.57 freezes at "Initializing Media Core" for 4-5 min.

upgraded my AE to version 14.1.0.57 on my Mac running OS 10.10.5

When I launch AfterEffects it freezes on the start-up screen "Initializing Media Core" for 4-5 minutes.

After this time AfterEffects launches and can be used normally.

 

Any help appriciated

Changing the color of an animated 3D object

I'm attempting to change the color of an outlined 3D object that has been animated. I cut apart a logo in Illustrator, then pieced together the logo in After Effects. Then I converted the .ai files into outlined shapes and then animated the shapes. Now I need to change the color of the outlined-animated objects. Thank you.

Shape layer edges not opaque

Can someone tell me why shape layer isn't one solid colour throughout? (This shot is zoomed in - that shape you see is 8 pixels tall, and the top and bottom pixels aren't the same shade of grey as the rest.)

Warning: older Cinema 4d render engine is running

When I try to activate the new Cinema 4d renderer in After Effects version 14.0.1.5 on a 27-inch iMac (2013) I get following warning:

 

"3D layers may not render correctly because an older CINEMA 4D render engine is running.

- if using a CINEMA 4d installation rorender, reset to the default in the renderer options.

- Close all versions of After Effects and restart CC 2017 by itself.

- After restarting, choose Edit > Purge > All Memory & Disk Cache."

 

Tried all options and there is no older version of Cinema 4d renderer running. Activity Monitor.app says /Applications/Adobe After Effects CC 2017/Plug-ins/MAXON CINEWARE AE/(CINEWARE Support)/bin/CineRenderAE.app/Contents/MacOS/CineRenderAE is running.

Trim Paths Causing Weird Effects

I imported an outline of the United States from Illustrator into After Effects CC 2017 and am trying to make it appear that it is being drawn on. I right-clicked the imported AI layer and clicked "Create Shape From Vector Layer". Next, I went into the shape layer and added the Trim Paths effect to it. When I try to change the End Percentage, with the intent to establish keyframes from 0% to 100%, making it look like the shape is being drawn onto the page. However, when I do this, I'm getting weird fills that show up, and the stroke outline isn't being drawn on like I was hoping. I just want the outline to be drawn on, with no fill. Here is an example of what it's doing:

Light layer won't work.

I am trying to make 3d text have shadows. When I point the light to the text, it doesn't cast anything, even with cast shadows switched on. If anyone else knows how to fix this, please let me know what I'm doing wrong??!

Un "N" Apparait et, After Effect crash

Bonjour,

j'était sur After Effect puis soudains un "N" entouré d'un cercle bleu apparaît et je ne sait pas comment l'enlever.

Double Clicking a comp in the timeline crashes AE
