I have a lot of Video Blocks templates and Windows. Lots of .motn templates from the past that I hate to lose. I realize some elements might not work if converted, but if I could convert them, that might not be a bad thing?
Is this something anyone else has done? Thanks for any feedback.
Just in case someone else encounters this issue. We have Macs and PCs in our office. We were getting the following two errors on PCs after packaging up a recent project:
After Effects error: There was an error processing this PDF document. (1074397201) ( 50 :: 29 )
After Effects error: cannot reopen an open file. ( 3 :: 130 )
Followed by AE crashing.
Macs opened the packaged project with no errors.
SOLUTION: Prior to packaging, move all assets into folders with PC acceptable names (no \ / : * ? " < > | allowed). We usually do this but missed a folder with a "/" which was translated into an unreadable character (for PC) in the directory structure of the packaged project.
FEATURE REQUEST: A more meaningful error code(s) would have been helpful in tracking down this issue.
I see there are a few posts that deal Motion Blur and Time Remap but I don't think they clearly describe what's happening here. I don't remember this happening in any previous releases.
Motion Blur is only working in specific instances with Time Remapped Comps:
1.When the comp is not set to pass through.
2. Trickier to describe...When a comp is set to pass through and and time remap is holding the comp on 1 frame for an extended period of time (with Freeze Frame or otherwise. As soon as the remap begins cycling the comp through some frames, the motion blur kicks in.
Has anyone else experienced this?? Thanks
I have recently updated a project to CC 2017 and am doing a simple 3D camera track. its a long clip of 25 seconds. and it successfully tracks it all well with many tracking points but when i chose to make 3D camera i just get the error message - Unable to decompose matrix error - 17:45
follow by 'Cannot render because cameras parent has a zero scale. error 75:3'
is anyone having the same issue? any ideas on what i should do?

I have this GIF animation for my job that I created in After Effects and sent to Media Encoder I set it to Animated GIF and matched the settings. When i play it in my web browsers they all do the same thing. The text is repeating as it slides, can someone please explain what is causing this.

So been using AE for a few years now and never experienced this before. The playback would randomly simply not work and I have to restart the computer for it to work again. Its happening more often and its getting very frustrating and aaffecting my work so trying to get to the bottom of it.
Here are my specs:
Windows 10, DELL XPS 15 9560, 32 GB RAM and I believe its a 4 K touch screen,
As I was looking for an answer on these forums, I noticed that some posts suggest that some playpack issues are related to either a Dell 4k screen or windows 10, no idea but if anyone has an idea of how to fix this it can be awesome!

Hello! I am working on a project for something, yet whenever i render the video the aspect ratio changes. I found out the reason for this problem, and it was this.
I am pretty new to AE, and I need to render my project in 720p or 1080p in mp4 file so my partner can put it all together... so I'm wondering if there is anyway i can fix this while keeping the quality and file type.
Hey all, I recently broke into a DPX workflow and have been experiencing some weird issues in AE. I haven't been doing anything extraordinary yet either
I'm simply trying to use masks with my 10bit 1080 DPX sequence clips and I'm not seeing results when making parameter adjustments. For instance when I add a feather to a mask it doesn't register or if I move the mask path it does not update or if I change it from add to subtract nothing happens...
I opened a new project with same sequence settings and imported some normal jpegs and all the mask parameters functioned properly. Is there something with DPX sequences that cause this?
Side note - I'm also having problems sending DPX clips from Premiere to AE using the dynamic link. The clip doesn't show anything in AE.
Any help would be really appreciated!

I am not a big user of AE and still getting my feet wet working with template projects.
I have an AE template called Blade 5 and I like the style that the text comes in with but it is far to fast.
How would I slow the whole thing down?
I am not clear on how these layers work on this template?
Any recomended tutorials on working with templates?

En regardant mon disque dur principal, j'ai voulu libéré de l'espace. Je suis allé dans User et regardé l'espace utilisé, en faisant un clique droit. J'ai vu 50 Go de donnée dans les propriétés, puis j'ai ouvert le dossier users, fais un clique droit sur les 3 dossiers qu'il y avait (temp, user et local je crois), et la il y avait affiché 16 Go environ.
Ensuite je suis allé dans les propriétés, j'ai modifié la lecture seule du dossier users contenant les 50 Go, en mettant le "petit validé" à la place du "carré noir" qu'il y avait dans la case lecture seule, j'ai fais appliqué, puis ok. Ensuite une fenêtre est apparu comme quoi il disait qu'il modifierait les attributs. J'ai laissé tomber cette histoire d'attribut pour la soirée, puis je suis allé dans After Effect pour modifier un projet.
Une fois le projet importé, un message d'erreur apparait comme quoi il disait qu'il y avait un problème avec mes préférences (fichier Préfs.txt) situé dans la version 14.0 (que j'ai) dans After Effects. J'ai cherché un peu sur internet une solution concernant ce problème, qui en gros chargeait le projet dans le logiciel, mais ne l'ouvrait pas. J'ai testé avec des projets de versions intérieurs et dates intérieurs, mais ça ne marche toujours pas. J'ai ensuite supprimé certains fichier txt dans le dossier où sont situés les préférences, car After Effect les re crées automatiquement. Une fois le logiciel redémarré, j'ai re essayé d'ouvrir un projet, mais ça ne marchait toujours pas.
Pouvez-vous m'aider à mon problème rapidement ? J'ai eu l'idée de le désinstaller et de le réinstaller, je ne l'ai pas encore fait.
P.S. : Photoshop ne sauvegarde plus mes préférences non plus et un autre logiciel qui s'appelle "discord", ne s'ouvre plus non plus, il me mette un long message d'erreur avec java script impliqué dans l'erreur.

I am trying to use the skip frame function when previewing my work - no matter which number I set it to 0,1,5 etc - the preview never skips a frame.
Can anyone suggest a work around!?

Saved Motion graphic to library through Adobe Stock, when tried to open in AE in AE got message "This motion Graphics Template is not supported in After Effects" (the icons are there but they are grayed out)
So, I created several video clips to embed in my AE project. I play the clips in Quicktime, and they all have audio. When I import them into AE and place them in the composition, there is suddenly no audio present. I don't even get the little speaker icon that usually shows up next to the eyeball icon.
I don't do AE a ton, more of an editor, but I've created things before where the audio showed up fine. This must be an easy fix, but for the life of me, I just can't figure it out.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Using latest version of Adobe CC on a iMac
As I right click on my clip and select 'track camera' it does what it's meant to do however, when it gets to the final stage and says "resolving camera' after effects begins to slow down then crashes.. i've looked around and there's barely any info on the solution an answer to this, help would be much appreciated as i'd like to get back to motion tracking asap thank!

That always pops up when I'm rendering. I'm using AE CS4, I run a 32-bit operating system and there are no 'blur' layers in my composition; the installed ram amount is 3.41 GB, and the ram left for other applications is 1.95 GB.

I've attempted it many times but it always just gets stuck at "Solving Camera". I left it my computer on overnight while it was on "Solving Camera" and woke up in the morning to "Solving Camera". Someone please help me as I want to get into 3D editing.
