Hi
When I import a file into AE from Illustrator and select "Create shapes from vector layers". Is it possible to maintain the actual groups from Illustrator?
I know I can organise my ai grups in layers and select "Convert to layered comp", but I want shape layers.
Is there any other way than selecting "Create shapes from vector layers" and then manually regroup everything?
Didn't this use to work the other way around, so ae only saw the top ai groups?

Anyone here had much success with building a Hackintosh and running AE on it?
I'm in the UK, and have built several PCs, then six years ago moved over to Macs and loved it! But recently, as I hardly need to say here, Apple have let us down with the hardware... Badly. I do a lot of Stereo3D editing, After Effects graphics and post, and want to move into 4K and VR.

I'm most worried about the graphics card. I could spend a lot on a top-of-the-range(ish) one and then find I've got probs. I would rather go with something not so ambitious and be certain of its reliability. The problem with that site is that a lot of people use it to build one and never return.
Has anyone here done this? Any advice to offer?
After I installed Sierra, my Magic Mouse starting to act crazy in After Effects (CC 2015.3) and wasn't able to scroll or zoom in effectively. It jumps from 50% to 1600% with a very subtle movement and it is impossible to live and work with. Someone please help!
Ever since upgrading to After Effects 2015.3, I've noticed a problem with text staying slightly visible several frames after I have either brought the opacity down to 0% or even several frames after the text layer has ended. It doesn't happen when I turn off motion blur for the comp, but still happens whether or not the text layer has motion blur turned on. Besides turning of motion blur for the whole comp, the only other thing I notice is that it doesn't show up when I have the fast preview option set to “Fast Draft”. Otherwise it shows up with "Adaptive Resolution" or "Off (Final Quality)", as well as in my final render.
Any ideas? I have also switched Macs recently and have the 2015 2.8GHz MacBook Pro with the AMD Radeon R9 M370X card.
I want to edit a gif in after effects, but when I try to import it I get an error that says this gif is damaged or unsupported. I googled my error, but didn't get anything.
I have dozens of layers with tons of keyframes and clips that start and stop. I have noticed in one section of my animation that it would look better if I slowed it down (added time) between a series of keyframes. Back in the day in flash you could stick your playhead in that exact spot and just add blank keyframes where everything to the right of the head would be pushed to the right. Is there any way to do that in after effects? The problem I have found with dragging and selecting the dozens of keframes and dragging them right is that the comps get completely messed up, dragging some leaving others. What I really want to do is basically stretch in the middle of a the timeline across all layers. Please tell me this is possible, haven't been able to find a way anywhere.
Hello, so I am a newbie here. I am cure try working on a project....A have an mp4 animation, the background is white, but i have walk cycle on that animation. How do i take the whole animation walk cycle and put it on a new background?

I have R18 studio C4d and AE 2015 running;
When I import a C4d file in AE and extract the 3D data, the data does not line up.
There is an offset in animation and timing.
What is causing this? Will it be fixed soon?
My render is slow in after effects cc it is 8% ram used
i have click different opinions in ae but no luck even in ME its still slow

ich habe noch nicht viel Erfahrung mit After Effects und stehe vor folgendem Problem:
Ich habe 2 .mp4 Dateien - also 2 Videos wo ein Brush gezeichnet wird.
Wie kann ich die beiden Videos untereinander setzen und ein Bild drunter legen, das ganze also quasi als Maske nutzen?
Sodass es aussieht als wird das Bild mit diesen Brushes gezeichnet?
Bin über jede erdenkliche Hilfe seeehr dankbar!
Gerne auch Links zu Tutorials oder so Brauche nur ne Richtung.

I'm using OS Sierra 10.12 the After Effects 2015 is not ram previewing in real time.
The sound plays really slow, the image jumps a bit.... it's imposible to get a real time preview.
I've tried a bunch of things now, but nothing is working.
I'm not sure if it's an After bug (I read a lot about this kind of issues with El Capitan).
Can somebody help?

All I am trying to do is have letters draw themselves in After Effects. I have imported my illustrator layers into After Effects. I just want to convert them into shapes so I can add a Trim Path effect to have them draw themselves. When I do this, I get thousands of "Groups" for each shape.
after rodobrushing out some object like a face with some movement, on a very still camera....its hard to then place that face into position of another person's head without having the face be shaky...how do i fix this?
I'm exporting the comp to media encoder from After Effects. Media Encoder launches, but nothing shows up in the render queue. Has anyone run into this? What am I missing?

So I am trying to do a scribble behind an interview. The problem I have is that you draw on one frame then go to the next and you are unable to see where your writing was in the previous frame. This means the drawing is always guess work and it jumps around.
I would like to know if it is possible to
A) paint on two layers
B) have one of the layers one frame behind and transparent so you can trace the previous paint strokes
Hope the picture helps and I explained it okay. If anyone knows how to do this or an alternative method that would be much appreciated.
While holding down command key and scrubbing, my .wav audio takes a good 2-3 seconds to become audible as I'm scrubbing through timeline. This has been an issue for me over the last few updates and it's still not doing what it's supposed to. It's important for me to scrub audio as I'm timing things out. Having to wait 2-3 seconds after scrubbing to hear my audio is a huge disappointment.
I had just completed the Windows 10 fall upgrade and this is the first time I've had an issue with AE on Windows 10... I'm using Adobe After Effects CC 2015.
Any ideas?
I am on Windows 10 Anniversary edition. I am running the 2015.3 release of After Effects.
I have tried running as administrator, I have tried changing ports (including purging memory and cache on restart).
I have checked Windows firewall settings, but could not find an entry for cinerender as either allowed or disallowed.
