Where is the "Convert To Bezier Path" option?

(Actually what I really need to do is "Convert a shape path to a mask path by copying the shape’s path to the Mask Path property" but I've tried this eight billion different ways and it just doesn't work... from what I've gathered from extensive Googling, these need to be bezier paths and not parametric paths? Is that what's preventing me from converting shape paths into a mask path?)

 

You can convert a parametric path to a Bezier path after the parametric path has already been created by context-clicking (right-clicking or Control-clicking on Mac OS) the property group for the parametric path (e.g., Rectangle Path 1) and choosing the Convert To Bezier Path command from the context menu.

 

No I can't! I've right clicked everything everywhere (and CTRL+clicked, and Option+Clicked, and CMD+Clicked), I can't find any "Convert To Bezier Path" option anywhere. I feel like I'm taking crazy pills, this is a huge road block that I've been fighting for months. I just keep finding the same answers - the ones that don't work for me. Can I assume I keep finding outdated information and the command has moved elsewhere?

 

In After Effects CC 2015 version 13.8.1.38, where is the "Convert To Bezier Path" option?

What are all the conditions that need to be met in order for this option to be available?

Are there any other secret tricks or conditions that need to be met in order for me to be able to "Convert a shape path to a mask path by copying the shape’s path to the Mask Path property"?

Creating a Shape Layer Shortcut

Hello,

 

I am trying to find out the name I need to enter to create a shortcut for creating a new shape layer in my composition. I am looking around the Shortcuts.txt document on my Mac and I can't find it. So when you open up the document, for each shortcut there is the name of the function on the left and then the shortcut itself on the right. So for example, creating a new solid looks like this: "NewSolidInComp" = "(Cmd+Y)"

 

What do I need to put on the left side for the function to create a new shape layer? Tried calling and using online chat support but they said to come here.

Rendering Help

Hi guys.

Im kind of new to After effect and need help with rendering.

 

So im a Hiphop/Trap Producer and I make beats to put out on youtube, my question however is that when I try to Render out my video which includes audio, a picture layer and a solid layer(Sound wave Spectrum) only the audio shows up in the rendered version but the visuals are not there.

 

Even while its rendering in After Effects it shows the wave form moving and it seemd like the video will come out great but when i play back the rendered final version on Windows media player OR Youtube video editor, only the Audio is there.

 

Anyone know why the visuals missing after being rendered?

Update 2015.3 AE and Premiere not working

I just updated (Windows 10).

After effects is not starting.
Premiere gives an error at the splash screen and crashes.

Same crash at splash screen for Media Encoder.

 

I already rebooted etc etc...

PS and AI are working correctly.

 

Looks like is a "video suite" issue.

 

Glad that as usual I kept old versions.

 

Is there something I can try to make the new version apps work?

Issues with Rendering files in AE

I'm currently working on doing progress bars and they're turning out fine, but when I got to render them they end up looking like roadkill;

it ends up looking like this.PNG

 

Instead of like this which was the original plan I'm at a complete loss as to what I'm doing wrong I've done a few projects before in AE ad they've always rendered beautifully.

Why can AE CC15 not retain the freeze frames made in Premiere?

I'm editing a screencast with a post-recorded voice track for a tutorial in Premiere CC2015 and of course I have to splice in some freeze frames.

Now I want to animate the thing in AE and I create an AE composition in Premiere with those clips.

Before in CS6, AE would create a time remap keyframe for all the freeze frames. CC2015 just simply ignores all freeze frames and creates normal video clips. Why?

 

Did I miss some thing?

AE Render gets slower as it progresses, HELP!

Okay, so just this night, I cleared out my mere 1TB hard drive giving it 500gb or so left in space for disk cache. And I also emptied the disk cache in After Effects. But I left my render to work over night, it started out fine doing about a frame a second, but then, as I woke up, and checked AE, it was only 3/4 of the way done. The render estimated only 2 hours, but it had been more than 9 hours and every frame took 10-20 seconds! Could I have any help with this? This has happened in the past.

Huge new workflow booster in AE - and it's free!

I know some folks poo-poo Video Copilot for producing easy-to-use plugins that newbies can just slap on stuff and look good, but this new tool is in a different league entirely. This is one, massive, workflow changer in After Effects. Nothing flashy, but SO MANY clicks are going to be saved.

 

Not only does this new, free, tool give you some of the power of C4D's commander - in that it lets you quickly pull up and apply any effect or preset, but it's got some awesome built-in features for "changing" the defaults for effects you apply in AE and adds some great stills-grabbing functionality to After Effects as well. This is going to save me so much time. Seriously. Just watch the video.

 

 

Once you get past the jokes and goofiness in the beginning, it is a much more powerful tool than it first appears. The overrides, black listing, shortcuts, and favorites combined with Animation Presets you build in AE is huge. HUGE!

I've been asking for something like this in AE ever since I found the commander in C4D and it's even better than I imagined.

Key Commands / Short Cuts AE CC 15.3

Did i miss something, but after a clean new Install of the latest AE Version most of my Shortcuts don´t work anymore?

Zooming in the Timeline used be shortcut "+" is now "=" Trimming the Layers, moving or shortening them

does not work at all.

Editing the key commands Textfile, seems to change things but not to the shortcuts that i assigned the function to.

As i use the german Version i am used to alt+Ö,alt+Ä or Ö Ä to move the Layers or adjusting their length.

I experienced this under Win 10, everything is fine in use under with El Capitan (and bad under Sierra, i know, it´s not supposed be working properly yet).

Docked extensions panels blank on startup

Hi wonderful peeps.

 

I have two extensions in CC2014 (Windows, most recent update) which I use on a daily basis (Adobe Color Themes and another 3rd party one called Flow)

because I use them every time I open AE I have their panels docked.

 

The problem is that the panels are always blank when I start up AE apart from the title and I have to go into the windows/Extension panel and click on them to get the dialogues to show up.

 

Is there a way to prevent this behavior? be it by autoloading the extensions somehow or is this behavior just simply wrong? as it seems peculiar to me that the extensions have a docking function but then have to be manually reloaded each time.

 

This is of course is not a horrendous issue just a rather annoying one but if anyone knows how to solve it would make life just a little sweeter.

Tracker won't allow target - can't apply. Help!

Totally new to after effects.  Trying to track an animated file in MP4 format using tracker.  I've got the tracking portion figured out, but I never get the "apply" button to activate - it stays greyed out.  Also under "motion target" I can't select either button.

 

Would appreciate any help very much - I have a project I'm doing for my son's soccer team and I have to present it next week!

 

I do note that if I select stabilize it then allows both fields to be active and apply be clicked, but I don't want to stabilize, I want to create a motion tracker so I can insert a face into the moving area. Message was edited by: pprioroh

Keying a green screen problem, please help.

Ok so in the pic you can see the problem I am having is that I need to key out just the couch that has the green screen on it. The Thing is that I can not just mask out the couch BTW that works great, because the Vase on the table explodes and the flowers fly up a as you can see in Pic 2 (Plus the Flowers are green). The goal is to key out the couch and use another footage where a guy is sitting on the same couch with no green screen so that I can composite the exploding Vase as if there are in the same scene.... Anyway I can do this? Vase.png

How can I get a Super 8 film effect. I've tried adding the Dust & Scratches plugin but nothing from the plugin appears on the clip I'm editing.

 

Also is there a free Super 8 effect plugin I can download from somewhere?

I'm a graphic designer and comics artist and it's the first time someone commissions me a cartoon, until now I've done some GIF in Photoshop and I'm taking the first steps with After Effects.

I would to ask you which animation software you advice me to use and where I can find good tutorial / tips n tricks
