I've been looking for a way how to create and animate an envelope, however there doesn't seem to be a tutorial on it. The main objective I want to achieve is having a letter fold and to be placed into an envelope, with the flap closing. I already found videos explain how to create paper folds and airplanes but could the same thing be applied to making an envelope?
The look I'm trying to go for is similar to this:

On 2013 iMac, MacOS Sierra and upgraded to After Effects 2017. I'm working with an older AE file to resize from 13256x48 to 17248x56. I've duplicated to same composition to accommodate shorter animations from 3200px wide and smaller. I have to submit AVI files, so I'm outputting .mov files then simply converting to AVIs using VLC. No issues in the past.
Currently, the new problem is I cannot render any .mov or other file when the composition is beyond 16000px wide. Troubleshooting includes creating completely new and stripped down animations to test size issue and nothing will process because of the size.
Any insights will be appreciated.

The problem is - when I change keyboard layout from English into Russian or vice versa After Effects stops responding and hangs indefinitely.
Could you help, what should I do in this situation?
I have a line and a square and a invisible box. The line is on the bottom and is keyframed to move from the top to the bottom of the screen. I parented the invis box to the line and placed it above the line. Then i alpha matted the box to the invis box (so the box can only be seen when the invis box is above it). According to youtube videos it should work so the box can only be seen when the invis box is above it, but when i do this, the non invis box cannot be seen any more even when the matte invis box is above it. So in other words my track matte is making its matted object invisible even when its above it.

I got a really disturbing problem in this Composition.
I got a 3D Mesh Sequence Animation from Element 3D in this Scene and i`am not able to achieve the needed look in terms of translucency and Hologram.
I know that just lowering the opacity or adding glows onto won`t get this look.
I already researched google many times and found nothing helpful for me.
About to despair.....

Hi. I'm getting this error with after effects CC 2015. Does anyone know how to fix this?

It happens every time I try to open up a new window from the window tab on the menu bar. It also seems to be effecting the layer order. The layers don't match to what I'm seeing in the Comp.
I've deleted all the cache and that hasn't worked so if you know any quick fix for this it would be much appreciated.

As you can see, it looks like they converted the original anime footage into lineart. I've tried using Find Edge and Threshold but to no avail. Thanks ahead of time!
I want the lens flare to move behind my text but don't know how
Hello everyone,
I am fairly new to Adobe After effects CC but i'm really enjoying the program. I am currently creating a 2 minute UX video based on the Apple HomeKit app but i'm having major issues with my sound.
So my recorded video files and vectors etc work perfectly with no issue however, I recorded my voice over using Quicktime on my iMac as I need to match my text transitions to the moments I speak but the sound isn't working. Whenever I play the quicktime recording outside of After effects, it works perfectly but as soon as I import it into After effects it stops working in preview. You can see that the sound contains the Waveform but no sound comes out. If you preview the sound file, my voice would maybe appear for like a second at some points of the recording but instantly disappear. You will sometimes have random crackles appear and thats it.
When I render the actual file, the sound is perfectly there and working. So what could be up? This needs to be done by Monday but my sound is stopping me from further editing. PLEASE HELP ME! 
As you can see my file is a M4a as recorded with quicktime but the type is a MPEG.
Any ideas?

Hello, I recently upgraded to After Effects CC 2017 and when I tried to launch it for the first time, I got the message
<After Effects can’t continue. Error while accessing the preference files inside “/Users/williamneff/Library/Preferences/Adobe/After Effects/14.0”, please verify the file permissions and try again.>
I uninstalled CC 2017 and reinstalled the CC 2015 version, which I've been using, but now I get the same message. The folder and preference file the app's looking for don't exist. I've never had this problem before. I'm running OSX 10.10.5 Yosemite and I'm hesitant to upgrade because I'm in the middle of a big project (now on hold until I can get After Effects back). Does anyone know what's going on?

I've update AE to the newest version and the preview is lagging. I can't preview in real-time anymore (RAM stuck at 11/12 fps or something). Even a simple motion in the simplest composition doesn't play smooth.
Also when I start previewing (spacebar), I can't stop the preview without After Effects crashing or lagging (constant spinning wheel) and have to wait for it to respond or restart AE.
Audio preview is also a horror. Within 2 frames of playback the audio slows down and pitches down. These problems I never had with the previous version. I can't work on my projects without a normal preview and animating on a voiceover. What's going on here? Any thoughts?

Hello, after updating the software version of the CC2017 Adobe After Effects does not start. Every time two pop-ups:
Then everything disappears and does not start.
Please help how to solve ???
With the new AE 2017, when I playback footage in the timeline with either Ram preview or spacebar, playback loops indefinitely with a spinning beachball.
It seems to be related to animated shape layers and imported vector assets (.ai and .psd)
I can scrub just fine, and rendering seems to work... but when I preview, it gets stuck in a loop, and force quit is necessary each time.
I've done the usual resetting prefs, restarting computer, trying various files.. etc. To no avail.
I'm on a late 2015 5k Imac, AMD Radeon 2048, running Sierra 10.12.1
Anyone else seeing this issue?

Installed updated Adobe CC and working on a project in AE. Manually stabilizing a hyperlapse/timelapse video specifically, and when I make an adjustment, apply, and playback the preview, I get Mac's spinning beachball and have to force quit the program. I've done many of these in the past without issue, any thoughts?
I have AE 2015.3 and I have been using it without problems for a month or two now. I can open almost all my .movs but when ever I try to import certain .movs from a file it says they are damaged or unsupported. I have QT as my default and have tried everything. My friend is having the same problem.
I'm going crazy, as I can't for the life of ,e figure this out. I didn't add any keyframes or do anything to make this happen. I've tried inverting the mask etc. to no avail- any ideas? the weird part is, is that it fades in! Please help! _ (I know I got a bit happy with the refine edge tool. (1st Try at rotoscoping.)
I'd appreciate any help, ideas for tutorials etc. _I love What AE can do, BUT I SUCK AT IT! LOL - I'm an old film - TV editor who came fro the Union where Editors Edit and VFX guys did VFX - Now we have to do everything. Thank you all!

I am newbie on the after effects programm. I want to make a teddy bear that walks on air by itself (i am behind him and holding him) . Just want to remove me and make only the bear on the video. I tried to doublicate the layer then freeze a frame before me entering the scene (camera is not moving) then with pen tool i cut myself but i cant find how to make the mask to stay for 1 sec , then cut the next second then the next e.t.c. Is there a possible to do it or am i trying with wrong way?

I am currently attempting to use Ray-Traced 3D function for extruding text. I've ran into a bit of a snag. Currently I have one Comp a simple text font, BUT anytime I try to type "X" the whole text goes away. It stays if I do it in lower-cased. 3D Layer option is checked. It does it with any font I use. But doesn't give me any issues with any other number or letter Caps or no Caps. Anyone have any ideas on why this is happening?
Shouldn't matter specs but doesn't hurt to state.

I am updated to the most recent version of adobe. I have tried a different Comp, New projects, and restarts. No change in it. When it's in standard or 2d mode it shows up fine. Only in 3D will it not show up.
