What can I improve?

My projects (1080p) are between 2-10 minutes long and they contain the same template as following:

 

-Particles emitter (Particular) which emits from outside of the screen (do I need to trim that in some sort so that AE will not process what's going outside?) that reacts to music (Sound Keys) + Camera layer.

 

-4 Audio Spectrums that react to music (Sound Keys) which are in a comp within the main comp.

 

-720p footage duplicated also in a pre-comp inside the main comp, also reacting to Sound Keys.

 

-Looped GIF as background

 

-Still image

 

-Music track

 

My specs:

i7 5820k

16GB DDR4 2133MHz

GTX 780TI

GA-X99 SLI

I've got 2 SSD's , one that the system and AE runs from and another for disk cache and conformed media cache. also 2 regular hard drives.

While export rendering CPU is on 23% and RAM on 55% workload, so i'm guessing improving those won't help.

 

 

Export rendering takes about four hours for each composition, I would appreciate recommendations on optimizing rendering time.


Why do the masks change when I copy/paste them?

Okay, so I've added some facial masks to a shot that has been Precomped, and want to paste those masks onto an original footage layer so I can track the face masks in Mocha (using MochaImportPlus).

 

However, when I paste the Precomp masks onto the footage mask, it does not match. The masks are way off and shrunken down. The Precomp lines up with the Footage layer though. The Precomped Shot is the exact same size as the footage layer shot, just with the blurs and skin retouch effects added. So why are the masks getting messed up?

 

Below is the Precomp with the facial masks

Showing a Mouse spinner as AE CC 2017 lunches

Hello,

There is a problem with AE CC 2017. As soon as I lunch the program the mouse turns to spinning mode and then goes to a normal after a second, and then goes to spinning mode again, this loop will continue until closing After Effect. Obviously, Only AE makes this situation, not another app.

Is there anyway to fix that?

Wacom Tablet not letting go of Key frames anymore :(

Is anyone else having this problem?

 

AE used to work perfectly with my wacom tablet... But now when ever i click a key frame hold it on the board and move it to where I want and release AE does not release the key frame... it is still tied to my pen and is now moving all over the timeline where ever I move the pen... I have to click the pin on the surface a bunch to let the key frame go...

 

At first I was thinking this was a problem with the tablet but now I don't think so because I have tested it with other programs and just using it on the desktop its fine... can drag and drop items perfectly...

 

It's just when in AE... It does not want to let go of the key frames... Any idea's... What a bummer...

Redering Only 30 Seconds Of A Minute Long Music Video. Help!

I've Tried Making My Music Video Over 10 Times And End Up Rendering Them And Every Time I Do It Only Renders 30 Seconds Of A Minute Long Video. Iv'e Been Searching Every Were And Still Have Not Found A Solution.

Hello Adobe Team,

 

I have a lot of Problems with CC at the Moment now.

 

1. Photoshop was not working right and told me. The Programm was not working right and quit.But i found a fix for it.

 

2. Muse gives me an error 500 so i can´t work at the Websites for my clients right now.

Found no fix for it.

 

3. After effects and Character Animator same issuse as Photoshop they didn´t startup right now.

 

Sorry to say that but the worst update since a long time to much Problems to solve right now.
So if there a fixes for the Problems let me know. I Have to deal with lot of trouble with my Clients because of the issues.

After Effects Expression Errors

Hello -  I am using After Effects version CS6

 

I am getting an error "After Effects warning: Unterminated string constant Expression disabled" each time I pick-whip one property to another. Like in the case of these two nulls created for "tracking" project when I pick-whip null's rotation on one null to another null's rotation. See image below:

Computer sound muffled after opening AE

My computer audio is really distorted sounding (like AM radio) after I open AE. I get a click sound and then it switches to the ****** sound quality. I think this has happened with a couple other CC apps after the update.

Hi there,

 

I am using Adobe After Effects CC 2015.3, I am doing a project where I need to place a 3D Object in the scene, but there is a person moving in front of the camera, which is an issue, so either I could Key it out or make it a part of the video. So I decided to use masking and keep the person in the scene, but the the person will be moving in front of the 3D Object. I duplicated the footage and used Roto Brush method to Remove all the Background and keep the Person and adjusted it frame by frame so that he is in front of the 3D object but still distinct and looks pretty good. But there is a Problem, during the Composition every thing looks good, the person moving is perfectly keyed out and the scene is good to Render, But when I render using AE Best Settings and Lossless method, it shows some background (which should have been keyed out or Invisible) when the person comes in front of the 3D object.

 

I have even tried Rendering the whole Composition using AE "Lossless with Alpha" method but still getting the same result. Now what should I do remove those parts which do not exist when I watch in the AE Preview Tab, but somehow show in the Rendered video. I am using an Element 3D Plugin from VideoCopilot.net to insert the 3D Object.

 

I am using Windows 10-64 bit with an AMD Radeon HD Graphics 7600 M, probably not the best of the machine for AE, but it has no trouble while performing other AE functions.

 

I also tested by rendering only the RotoScoped footage in different setting including Lossless Tiff, but still getting a messy result when rendering compared what it shows in the preview.

Puppet Head with Sliders works until keyframed: Anyone know why?

I made a head puppet that can look left and right with a slider, and also up and down and there is a blink slider and one for visemes. I used time remapping so the slider can switch between shapes. They all work great! I'm so proud of myself!

 

Until I add a keyframe and then the whole thing breaks. What good is it unless I can add keyframes?

 

Is my approach wrong or is what I want impossible?

Audio won't preview in AE (unspecified drawing error)

Hi! I'm having a problem getting my audio to play back in After Effects. I'm using the RAM preview (0 on the num pad) and the playhead is scrolling through the timeline but I'm hearing no sound whatsoever. When I attempt to bring up the audio panel, I get an "unspecified drawing error" that won't go away until I force quit out of the program. From what I gather, this has something to do with the RAM/GPU performance but my computer has 12gb of RAM and an NVIDIA Geforce graphics card so this shouldn't be a problem and hasn't been in the past (I've been able to preview audio before and I checked to make sure that the file is not muted in the preview window).

 

I am running AE 2015.3 and I just updated it in an attempt to fix the problem so nothing should be out of date. Any help is greatly appreciated!

 

(And yes, I tried turning my laptop off and on again)

HTC Vive Tracking for After Effects?

Is there in any way i could track in AF my VR headset (HTC Vive) as a camera or any of the controllers?
Will VR be (question for Adobe) supported in the future for creating better camera movement / tracking or even puppeteering in AF?

Mocha AE not starting with project's path

Hi,

 

I tried to first-time use Mocha AE today, it starts with no prob if I select a clip in AE and go to "Animation -> Track with Mocha AE". But then it opens the "new project"-window without selecting the path of the saved AE-project. It also won't automatically select the video from AE, too. Instead it only shows "new" as the project name and "results" as the file-location.

 

Am I missing something here or is this a bug?

After Effects 2017 Playback is Extremely Slow

I updated to After Effects 2017 upon its release and since then have had an incredibly slow experience. I migrated over all my settings and was achieving decent performance for the work I do (mostly text and simple image motion graphics; not very intensive stuff) with AE 2015.4 but since updating everything moves like molasses. Even on a fresh program with only a simple background and a text resizing keyframe, it takes 30 or 40 seconds for the preview to cache out and then playback never fully plays in real time. I don't know what settings to adjust to get the performance back to the smooth state it was in in AE 2015.4 but I'd rather not go back and re-install the older version. Has anyone else had this problem or been able to fix it? My system specs are below; again, it's not the most powerful machine on the block but it was able to handle at least relatively medium sized projects in After Effects before the update, so what gives?

 

System:

 

iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, Late 2014)

Processor 3.5 GHz Intel Core i5

Memory 32 GB 1600 MHz DDR3

Graphics AMD Radeon R9 M290X 2048 MB

OS MacOS Sierra 10.12.1

Syncing missing assets with library automatically?

Hi

I've got a AE project with missing assets. Same assets are available in adobe library that I'm sharing with my colleagues so I need to sync those missing assets not with files physically on HDD but with library.

So far, I'm able to search for each asset in library and drag it to the project. It works, but must be done for every single asset.\

Is there any way to do that for all missing assets in one step? Just to tell AE that it should search for missing assets in library by default or something like that?

3D camera tracker creates enormous 3D space

Hi there,

 

I got some greenscreen footage with a mobile camera and am supposed to key and track it.

There are quite a lot of tracking marker both in the front as well as on the back of the greenscreen.

 

When I use the 3D camera tracker and after analysis e.g. create a text + camera, The camera has a movement of about 10000px, where it moved like maybe 3 meters and the text that I pinned to the background is around 100000px away, where it have been around 5-10 meters on the set.

If I understand it right I would need to put my 3D set (a very simple one, I created in AE) to the same Z of 100000px. That's quite unconvenient.

How can I fix that scaling?

Aerender multithread work around

Looking for information on an official recommendation for farm rendering with AE 2015/2017. We are aware of the lack of multithreading and have experienced extremely low CPU utilization on running aerender on windows machines. Is there any official documentation providing insight on how to fully utilize a render farm with AE? As far as we have seen, for 2015, the only way to effectively use our farm machines is to launch about 8 aerender instances. Please advise.
