So I updated to CC 2017 and all the apps are Retina-happy....and then we get to After Effects. Is anyone else having this issue? It's difficult to read the things on screen, not because they're small, but because they are so blurry/pixilated. I have a 15" MacBook Pro running MacOS 10.12.1

After Effects 2017 Crashes on Preview
Ok, So I've seen a few of these and I have seen that this issue is partly due to the fact that I have an external audio system. If I switch to the Internal audio output I don't crash, but the preview doesn't play properly—it seems like it's cacheing but not rendering. I can scrub and do almost everything else but preview.
I'm on a Mac Pro running El Capitan
2 x 2.26 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon
40 GB of DDR3 ECC
an SSD Startup and cache on another drive
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680 2048 MB
Never had a problem with AE before (Yes, I get it, I should have waited)
I've tried a bunch of things like deleting preferences and starting from scratch. When I did this, smaller video files would preview fine but larger (2K) would not play and crashes the system. I have plenty of room on several internal drives and I've tried cacheing on each of them—same issue.

Altering Background Behind a Moving Object with a Still Camera
Background information: I am using a program to track a moving object with a still camera. This program uses background subtraction to be able to visualize the object. The problem I am having is that parts of the floor the object is standing on are very similarly colored to the object itself and there are problems recognizing the object in these locations.
A proposed solution is to find if there is a way to eliminate the background entirely and keep the moving image. I figured it would be possible since it is a still camera and the only thing that is moving is the object. Is there a way to do this easily for many hours of video?

Media Encoder CC 2017
The new encoder for someone reason is having my source video start out at 427X240. I am using vector images in a 1280X720 comp. Even if I change the outcome it is really blurry. Anyway I can fix this? Thanks.

After Effects cc 2015 can’t continue: unexpected failure during application startup after installing OS El Capitan
Hi guys
I had to update my OS for my magic keyboard 2 to work properly but now for some reason I get this error with After Effects.
All the other cc 2015 programs still work fine.
Error "After Effects cc 2015 can’t continue: unexpected failure during application startup".
What would be the easiest way to fix it?
Have some urgent deadlines so need to get it sorted.

AE 2017 opens project but freezes
I just installed AE 2017. At first it seemed like it was working fine. But all of a sudden it just launches a project, but then freezes. Nothing is visible in the composition window. If I go to force quit, it shows that After Effects is not responding.
I'm kicking myself for doing this upgrade. AE 2015 was working fine. I'd like to reinstall that, but so far can't figure out how to download and install it.
I'm on an older Mac Pro: Quad-Core 2.93 GHz, 10GB RAM. OS 10.10.5
Any help would be appreciated.

Disk cache files from earlier versions of AE are stranded
While doing some housekeeping on my Macbook Pro, I noticed that AE cache files were taking up a sizable amount of disk space. As I dug further, I saw that there were several folders within the Library/Caches file tree that were associated with various older versions of AE. I had folders from thred different 13.X versions, as well as the latest 14.X. In updating AE, I have typically selected the option in the CC desktop app to "delete old versions" of my apps.
It was surprising to me to find all these old stranded cache folders, totaling over 30Gb on my OS drive. I couldn't find a way to "purge" the oder caches from the latest AE CC2017 version.
My query: Is this behavior expected? I've trashed the older folders, and will keep a close eye on this in the future, but it sure seems surprising to me. I'm traveling, so haven't been able to compare the situation with my Windows production machine back in the office yet.

Audio issue
So i am having trouble playing audio in the preview section. Everything else previews fine apart from this. I have double clicked 'L' and there are waves on the waveform, and i have tried clicking 0 but it still wont work. Someone help me?

Lumetri Color - doesn't match between Premiere and After Effects for HDR
I'm trying to nail down a color and compositing pipeline between After Effects and Premiere for HDR video (High Dynamic Range). I've figured out how to get OpenEXR sequences to color match between After Effects and Premiere Pro (drop an EXR sequence into Premiere, drop same into After Effects and render out as EXRs without doing anything to them, drop the After Effects output onto a Premiere Pro timeline, and the two sequences color match with no shifts).
So I'm confident that my workflow color matches - that processing an EXR sequence through After Effects and putting it into Premiere isn't shifting color or gamma or anything like that.
My goal is to do HDR color correction in Premiere Pro with Lumetri Color and Lumetri Scopes in HDR. After Effects doesn't have HDR scopes AFAIK. I then want to apply those color corrections to clips in After Effects, because I'm doing several versions and things with that color corrected clip.
BUT....if I make a Lumetri Color setting in a Premiere Pro project on EXR sequence A, then import that Premiere Pro project into After Effects, find that Lumetri Color effect, then copy it to apply it to another version of the same EXR Sequence A and render out a new EXR sequence B from After Effects...sequence A doesn't match sequence B in Premiere Pro. At ALL.
Examples: Here's the Lumetri Scopes readouts of an EXR sequence I've imported into Premiere Pro and applied a Lumetri Color color correction on, compared with the same clip with the same Lumetri Color effect applied in After Effects, rendered out to a new EXR sequence and dropped into Premiere Pro:

Again: EXR Sequence A with Lumetri Color effect applied in Premiere on the left; then the same clip with the same Lumetri Color setting applied in After Effects and rendered out to a new EXR sequence and brought back into Premiere on the right:
Now in the old days I would have blamed this on Quicktime doing some color shifting or oddness in the Premiere vs After Effects color interpretations, but remember I've already done render tests to show that WITHOUT Lumetri, they match dead on. So it appears Lumetri Color is inconsistent between the two programs. Does anybody know of a way to fix this?
I recognize that I could pre-render the EXR sequence out of Premiere and bring it into After Effects and work from there, but that introduces additional problems of render time and drive space and another intermediate file to track and media management and organizational time and...ICK. I don't wanna.
Thoughts, suggestions, anyone? Bueller? Bueller?

Clarity (camera raw effect) in after effects
DOes anyone know how to create the clarity effect that you get with camera raw but within after effects. The kind if thing I'm looking for is see. Within films like 300 and tv shows like Spartacus blood and sand. Now I know this might have been achieved using another technique but I would love to recreate camera raw slider effect.

After effects 2015 - new audio preview is slow
Hello,
i installed new ae cc 2015.
ram render is way faster in some conditions, but i find audio preview really slow :
when i press "." to listen just audio, or even "0" or "spacebar", preview start, but audio start few seconds later.
So i can determine pricesly the time when a can i hear a beat, like on cc 2014 version. I find that as a major problem in motion design.
And when i press ".", for audio only preview, there is a delay, then it's starts to play, but sound can be heard just few seconds later, but it works well in cc 2014.
the only way is to change option :
but in that case, audio is always on, when it is not real time.
Lats thing, on cc 2014, when i preview audio only, then stop, it comes back to the start point. Now it stops where it stops. Not practical.
Any way to change it in options ?
But well, if it correct one day, maybe just newt year, as the stereo effect problem has been correct in one year.

Importing After Effects library assets troubleshooting
I created CC Library assets in Photoshop. When I drag or place them in my After Effects they are much smaller then the originals. Does anyone know why this is happening and if it can be solved? I love Librairies but been having a lot of problems using them since the last 2 updates. I have around 50 assets so would prefer not to have to export and import them individually between apps. Thanks. (I am using CC2017 versions of apps)

ich habe ein Objekt, dass sich um die eigene Achse dreht (über Rotation). Dieses beginnt aktuell immer von Beginn an. Nun möchte ich aber, dass sich das Objekt zum Beispiel erst ab Sekunde 5 anfängt zu drehen. Wie stelle ich das ein? Irgendwie funktioniert es nicht, wenn ich mir in der Timeline Punkte setze. Hat da jmd einen Rat? Vielen Dank im Voraus.

After effects 2017 crashing on launch.
Hi everyone,
My after effects (I installed a 2017.0 after effects trial) won't even open up or give me an error which is really annoying because I'd then be able to troubleshoot it myself. I don't really know how to fix this. I have all my drivers updated. I'm even installing on a clean pc (no older versions of any adobe product on my hard drive). I'm not sure if anyone has been able to fix this or not. I've tried reinstalling after effects 2017.0 and still nothing. I'm at a loss on what to do any help will greatly be appreciated!

Masks won't feather, they just form hard edges
Help!
I've been working on a project with 6K anamorphic Red footage (3792x3160) and have been extensively using masks with little issue.
Now, suddenly, the masks aren't feathering anymore. When I increase the feather, it just expands a hard edge. Yet when I open the masked layer in the layer panel, it looks properly feathered, but remains an expanded hard edge in the composition. This is applying to both Footage and solids/graphics.

After Effects 2017 Playback is Extremely Slow
I updated to After Effects 2017 upon its release and since then have had an incredibly slow experience. I migrated over all my settings and was achieving decent performance for the work I do (mostly text and simple image motion graphics; not very intensive stuff) with AE 2015.4 but since updating everything moves like molasses. Even on a fresh program with only a simple background and a text resizing keyframe, it takes 30 or 40 seconds for the preview to cache out and then playback never fully plays in real time. I don't know what settings to adjust to get the performance back to the smooth state it was in in AE 2015.4 but I'd rather not go back and re-install the older version. Has anyone else had this problem or been able to fix it? My system specs are below; again, it's not the most powerful machine on the block but it was able to handle at least relatively medium sized projects in After Effects before the update, so what gives?
