If I try to align 2 SHAPES this error pops up. What is this?? HEEEELP!

I just got the whole creative cloud and downloaded after effects and premiere pro. It seems that my dynamiclink isnt working at all. I watched a video where it said put the shortcuts in the dynamicink folder in the common files and I couldn't even find that folder. I dont know if the video is outdated which means the folder is in a new place or not But everytime I track camera i get "unable to obtain dynamiclink server connection.

I'm having a hard time dealing with this new Preview in AE. A lot of times it is not giving me a real-time playback.

It is nice to have the preview continuously playing while making some changes on the comp, but sometimes I would like to have a real-time preview, like the old RAM preview.

Is it possible to generate a real-time RAM preview? I don't mind waiting for AE to render before playing back the animation.

I have tried the Numpad 0 and also spacebar. I've tried to purge all, restart machine, etc...

What I thought was happening was the After Effects windows were located off screen, as I'm running a separate external monitor.  However, I've tried numerous things and can't get any windows to show up. All of my other creative cloud apps open and run fine, and I've had AE running fine on this machine before.

After Effects launches, no splash page comes up on screen like the other creative cloud apps showing the program launching. The file, edit, etc, menu bar comes up in the upper left hand corner. Initially I'm unable to select any options in the dropdown menus, however, if I hit enter I'm able to select options like open new project, etc.  Nothing happens when I select any of those or any of the window layout options as well.

So far I've tried reseting the app preference by deleting the pref file manually, as well as launching the program with command + option + shift held down.

I've tried changing both of my screens resolutions to see if the windows are located off screen, which didn't work

I've uninstalled, restarted and reinstalled a few different versions of AE: Versions 14.0.1, 14.0.0, 13.8.0 I get the same thing with all of them.

Tried doing first aid in the disk utility on my main HD.

Macbook Pro Mid 2009

OS X El Capitan

2.8 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo

8GB RAM

Nvidia Geforce 9600 GT 512MB

hi. i am new in after effects. i tried to run an extention(html5 panel) from a plugin c++ code...

is it possible? if not possible how can i run jsx file instead of extention?

I'm trying figure out a way to create and animate a single stroke with a transparent tail that maintains a set length.

Vegas is the closest I can get but it seems there is not way to animate this single stroke without getting the 'vegas' effect, and it also has problems when trying to animate along a straight lines. (I can also create a shape stroke layer that has a transparent tail, but it doesn't keep the transparency set to the stroke path once it's animated, boo.)

Any other ideas would be appreciated!

I use Windows 10 and has the latest version of After Effects to date. When I try using C4D I get the popup error message shown below. It very frustrating especially when I have a critical project working on. I need help like yesterday.

I've been searching for my problem over the net, but haven't found any solution.
Also, i've been asking Adobe, and they replied this is a gpu driver issue.
But still whatever official driver version from Nvidia i install, the problem is there.

My config is new, bought three months ago, it's for Octane in 3D.
3 Titan X  Maxwell + 1 Titan X Pascal  and after effects is the only Adobe app that has this problem.

Here is the problem :

- on a dual screen configuration the preview window of the app is white, nothing can be shown here but a full white background.
- If i quit after effects, once it's quited :  then it is still in the background applications working.

Cases where i don't have the problem :
If i delete the preferences and start after effects again, and :
- if i start after effects with only one monitor connected
- if i start with a dual monitor connected but after effects window app is in only one monitor.

I have already tried :
- to reinstall after effects from scratch,
- to install different versions of drivers from Nvidia,
- adding in the gpu supported text file in the app folder both Titan X and Titan X (Pascal)
- plugging the monitors on another gpu

I think my problem is not related to hardware as i would have read this type of problem already on the net,

it's not related to Nvidia driver i've been configuring it at the defaults.
All of the other apps are well working on dual screens, including the Adobe ones.
It's in the dual screens that this is happening.

Why is it when I use the Track Camera option it stops working and closing the whole program after only analyzing the video? Every time. I am paying for subscription too just to use this option.

I want to the top layer to zoom out in the new layer underneath. But as soon as the indicator hits the bottom layer, the bottom layer turns active. But then I miss the zooming of the top layer. If I move the bottom layer to where the top layer ends I get a black background around the out zooming top layer. That's not what I want.
I'm sure I have done this before, but I can't figure it out. Do I have to create a mask to make this work?

I have to layers, Number 1 and Number 2. Suppose I put to the No1 the value 15 and to the No2 the value 5. Automatically i want to a new layer sum this numbers (20) like the photo.

Part 2:

Next, I would like to built a chart below take the prices automatically according to the numbers that I gave. Explain...

From the above sum, i want the layer with the value 20 understands automatically that is the 100%. So to the chart the shapes changes automatically and understands that for the No1 with the value 15 is the 75% (15*100/20) and for the No2 with the value 5 is the 25% (5*100/20).

Probably i need for the value of the mumbers a Solid with Numbers effect and not a text? And if someone knows the expressions...

Hello, I've recently started learning After Effects, and have been working on small animations with Illustrator vector files. Yesterday I had no problem importing files, but today I did the same process, and my files have been coming in like this (see circled image) I can't seem to find a reason, can anyone help please?

I'm quite inexperienced with AE. I'm working with Cs4 version.
I have an animation of handwritten text (stroke that reveals the text) and then I added a CC Turn page effect. This is probably a stupid question, but how do I get the text to turn along with the page ?

After I convet the audio to keyframes I get a new audio amplitude layer. The problem occurs when I click on that layer or any other spot in the UI, that layer disappears. What am I doing wrong?

I am using AE CS 5.5 in Mac. I tried audio layers mp3 and wav, but nothing worked.

So my After Effects renders on RAM only as apparently, my 2GB 940M isn't 'supported'.

I have updated all the drivers and for crying out loud, I game with this GPU so why is After Effects denying it?

Working in AE CC2014.1 and C4D lite.  I have a project with a few .c4d files in it.  I'm working on this project at my work computer, and I then bring it home in the evenings and work on it on my own computer (both mac pros).  At work it's fine, at home I have problems. 

I get the error "AEGP Plugin CINEWARE SceneLayer: CINERENDER - Connection failure (5027 :: 12)" when I launch AE, and I think it does this for every .c4d file I have in this project.  I can see the file just fine in C4D lite, and in after effects I see a black screen in the comp window.  However I can see the thumbnail of the c4d file in the project window when I have the c4d file selected.  The layer is active in the comp's timeline as well.  Not sure what to do about this.  Any ideas?  Thanks.

Hi!

So I am currently trying to reveal an image layer in AE using the brush tool as a mask, so I am painting on a new solid layer (white background, black for the paint color), and using a silhouette luma to reveal my image. This part works fine.

In addition, I want to add a 'Roughen Edges' effect to the BRUSH STROKES ONLY, not the entire silhouette luma layer itself. From a different forum I found a post on how to do this:

"Create a solid, choose that solid - dobule ckick so it opens that layer. Paint something with brush tool. Then go this solid effects panel - click on "paint on transperent" then add Roughen Edges right after it."

The problem I have is that whenever I click on the "Paint on Transparent' box, the entire layer disappears and I can no longer see ANY paint strokes or any other part of the layer. The whole thing just disappears. I added some screenshots as to what is happening.

I've tried pre-comping layers and adding duplicates of the image below, but to no avail.

Any thoughts as to why this is? Am I missing something?

I am having an issue with my continuous rasterize mode in AE CC (2017). My continuous rasterizing has never had problems until now and I'm very confused as to why it's acting up. It says it is switched on but it is also greyed out and won't let me switch it off. My shapes look pixelated even at 200%.
