Video Only in a selected area

Hi Everyone,

 

Very new to After Effect and very much a newbie in regards to editing and creative things in general, i have a logo animation made up and i would ideally like to have some video footage playing at a reduced opacity but only on the logo itself and not the background, is there a way to do this and if so how?

 

 

The logo where the arrow is pointing transforms from 400% to the size on screen and the 2 J's are a seperate layer and i would want the video to follow them as they decrease in size.

PLEASE HELP!!! MUSIC VIDEO

So my issues: CS5 AE

I am using the paint brush on single frame and it has become un-aligned from the video by 1 frame. How do I realign this?

 

2nd Question is after this is all done I create a solid and copy the paint over. Is there a way to export this with transparency so I can put it back in my film editing program?

 

This is all in attempt to do the scribble or draw effect over a music video.

Problem with preview. timeline is caching but cursor does not move

I never encountered a problem till this morning when the cursor in the timeline of my project stopped to move along with the green bar of the cached frames. If I press the space bar , the green bar starts growing but nothing moves, the preview is freezed on the frame where the cursor is. Furthermore if i double tap the space bar the cursor in the timeline moves back to the previous frame. I'm using After Effects CC 2015. Thank you for the help

Cant see anchor points or resizing handles in after effects cc 2015

Hello

Im working on a project however I cannot see my resizing handles or anchor points on anything not even when i select the pan behind tool.

I am unable to move anchor point to a new location on the text i am working with and this happens with everything i have in after effects not just text, did I install after effects cc 2015 wrong ? I have just got it.

Aerender: Unable to obtain a license.

I'm having this problem repeatedly when I try to use multiple instances of AErender.exe: I will be able to start a number of instances, and it will all work fine, but then something will snap and thereafter every time I try to start a new instance I see this: After effects error: Unable to obtain a license. Please run the full application to correct the problem or get a more detailed message.

As you can see I'm logged into CC, and After Effects is running, as well as several other instances of aerender.

 

The workaround is that I have to quit AE and then re-start it, which then brings up the CC sign-in dialog. It's really annoying to have to do this all the time. Just another symptom of the incredibly brittle nature of the CC sign-in system.

 

This is windows 7 Pro, 64 bit, latest CC version: 2015.3

Error with After Effect launch

Hello,

 

I got a problem that is lasting for two weeks now about the launch of After Effect, I got this message :

 

After Effects (alert) : Impossible to access to the resource 'DVAColorThemesV2' (xml type)

 

Then, After Effects opened a window telling me that it doesn't work and couldn't open the software.

 

MY OS is OS X El Capitan on Mac, and i can't find DVAColorThemesV2 anywhere on my computer. I uninstall and install again the software, but it still doesn't work.

Bezier Handle Can't Work!

Hi,

 

I am drawing a mask on my object and I toggle my 'rotobezier' option on.

 

But when I click alt and drag the anchor point, the cursor becomes the vertex tool but I cannot drag it left or right like I did before for quite a long time.

 

It can still  rotobezier but i CANNOT adjust the handle.

Small text characters building together to form larger ones

Hi guys,

 

My client would like to create some graphics with a similar style to this: Stock Photography: Search Royalty Free Images & Photos - iStock

 

Basically a way of taking lots of small data characters and building them together to form much larger characters as a kind of mosaic effect. Does anyone know of a plugin or effect within after effects which might be helpful in putting something like this together? Or would it be better to produce something from scratch?

[Shape Layers] Convert Path Operations to Keyframes

Hi,

I was wondering if there is a way to access modified path information of a shape layer after operations like wiggle path or zig zag are calculated.

Pretty much like a "Convert Expression to keyframes" which reads the calculated values of a property and output the result of that on keyframes, I'd like to be able to take a path, apply operations on it and output the result of that as a new raw path keyframe.

I came up with this question when i noticed that the Bodymovin extension failed to export animations that used path operations (the extension ignored them entirely).

I see that feature as being useful in other cases as well.

If anybody have any idea how to work around this, let me know.

GTX 1080 unsupported

Hi there

 

I installed recently the new GTX 1080 in a dual Xeon E5 2630v4 with 64Gb Ram, but AE are detecting it as GPU (unsuported)

Any news about that?

The importer reported a generic error

Hi everyone,

 

I hope someone already solved this issue:

 

I recently updated AE and Premiere to the latest versions available.

Unfortunately now, when I try to link a clip from Premiere to a composition in AE I get this message:

"The importer reported a generic error".

So AE starts, it creates a comp but with nothing in it.

 

In addition to that, I cannot import multiple files directly from AE, for example jpegs. AE cannot import the same jpegs that worked fine in the previous versions.

 

Any help?

No audio in After Effects CS5 after upgrading to Windows 10

Hi everyone,

First of all, I appreciate any help I will get here.

 

I upgraded my Windows 7 to Windows 10 a few months ago. I have Adobe CS5 Master Collection and it seemed to work fine, except there is no audio in After Effects CS5.

 

Not only that, as soon as I open After Effects all sound is turned off. If I have music or any podcast or radio station playing in the background, it shuts off all audio in the system. Audio comes back again when I click outside of After Effects interface to have some other software active. For example, when I minimize After Effects and go back to desktop, audio is back.

 

I tried several options:

I updated the drivers for my sound card - no result

I changed the sound card and reinstalled it. (I had an Asus card and I changed it to Sound Blaster) They both don't work.

I changed the computer for another one with Win 10. Still, there is the same issue. No audio and it turns off audio in the system whenever After Effects is active.

 

A partial solution was to change settings in After Effects: EDIT > PREFERENCE > AUDIO HARDWARE . I changed the Default Device from Asus Xonar (or Sound Blaster Live in one attempt ) to After Effects WDM Sound. And... there is still no audio in After Effects but at least in does not shut off all audio in the whole system, so I can at least have some music playing in the background.

 

My questions are:

 

- any ideas how to bring back audio in After Effects CS 5? Anybody had this issue? WOuld be great to hear from anyone, anywhere Thanks in advance

- are there any sound drivers proven to have no issues with WIN 10

- is there any way to actually hear audio when After Effects WDM Sound is set as Default Device

- should I take out my Asus sound card (or my older Sound Blaster that I also tried) and depend on a motherboard internat sound card

- do you think that this motherboard sound card would work? ( I have not actually tried that). Maybe that is what After Effects WDM Sound stands for

- is there any other software (hopefull open source) where I could take my Movie Clip rendered in After Effects and add Audio to it. I am looking into Fusion.

 

 

 

Thanks for any ideas and recommendations and hopefully solutions. I look forward to it and it will be a great help to make After Effects just work without resorting to other software. (I paid for my CS 5 and for the time being I do not consider getting a subscription plan.)

After Effects 13.6.1 crashing with Sapphire

Anytime I add a Sapphire effect I get a beach ball and an eventual crash. I have no idea what this error message means and Google didn't help.

I've tried the basics (re-install Sapphire, wipe preferences, reinstalled AE) none of those worked.

 

Anyone have any ideas?

Latest AE CC won't playback previews.

I just downloaded the latest version of AE CC and discovered it won't playback previews. When the play button is pressed, it seems to load into ram but when it comes time to playback, nada. I loaded a project that was created before the upgrade and the comps preview fine but when I create a new comp in the project it won't play. If I bring that comp into a previously created comp (before the upgrade) it will play within the old comp.

Blur Effects Affect Layer Styles on Text

Hello Everyone,

 

I have been running into this problem for some time now.  Whenever I combine layer styles and blurs, the layer styles tend to get overblown and I don't get the look I want.  I tried a new approach today and precomposed my text and put my blur inside first, and then added the layer style on the outside, but the issue still happened.  Before I tried this method, I was just putting both the layer styles and effects together on the same layer, and that didn't work out, either.  If I could please get some advice on how to avoid this, that would be greatly appreciated.  I have attached some images below of what I am seeing.    Thank you~

 

• I am using the "Evaporate" effect for this project for blur.  I am using "Inner Glow," and "Outer Glow," for the layer styles. 

• I'm using Adobe After Effects CC 2015.3 (Version 13.8.1.38).
• I'm working on an iMac 27-in, late 2013/ OS X El Capitan (Version 10.11.6)/ Memory: 8 GB 1600 MHz DDR3/ Processor: 3.2 GHz Intel Core i5/ Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GT 755M 1024 MB

Font not working After effects CC2015.3, but working everywhere else.

I have a font called Kalinga and it works in Photoshop and Illustrator but does not show up in After Effects. I even created a PSD with it and imported it to After Effects and it still said the font was missing. Is After effects incompatible with certain fonts and is there a way to fix this?

 

Im using After Effects CC 2015.3 and the equivalent versions of PS and AI on Windows 7.

 

UPDATE: a coworker just told me it works in AE CC 2014 but not in 2015, for anyone here.
Did they change something in 2015?

Multi Machine

I have just aquired  contract where I will be rendering out 9 hours of video weekly and I would like to free up my work station. I currently use a MacBook Pro with an i5 and intel iris 6100 graphics. I would like to start render farming or something  similar to speed up my workflow. I have around 40 windows 7 machines all on a extremely fast network with a server availble. The windows machines have Haswel i7s with Nvidia K2200 graphics. I have to render the video to a H.264 MP4 format. All the media I am working with is pre rendered to the same format to try to reduce the amount of actually work has to be done on the final render. One downside is that all the windows machines are set up as a deep freeze so they reset every time they restart. However they can run programs off the server.. They are also in the same room and can work together as a home group or workgroup.

Is there a way to get all of the  machines to work together? To render the video so I don't have to render 14 hours on my laptop?

Move looked into exporting into an after effects sequence and then doing a multi machine render from there however I dont know it would actually speed up he render because at the end it still needs to run a post action and encode it..

Suggestions? Programs to look into?

Having RAM Preview Problem

I have sufficient memory and also 12 gb RAM. Still I am facing the problem.

Only upper case text but not lower case text on all fonts

Trying to create lower thirds for an interview but After Effects will not allow me to use lower case on all fonts. In the comp it shows the text is upper and lower but on the screen it's only upper case. I've shut down and restarted After Effects a couple of times but nothing changes. Has anyone else experienced this?
