Hi:
I just got an error that displays and doesn't want to go away even after I click the only OK button in the dialog box.
The error as cryptic as this is, is:
"After Effects error : unbalanced unlock. ( 7 :: 40 )
Does anybody know how to get rid of this and why did it show up in the first place?
Using Mac OSX El Capitan with the latest AECC2015 update (13.6.1.6)

I've searched for answers on this forum, and found other people having te same problem. Pushing escape doesn't work, Edit > Purge doesn't work. I can't stop the program and I can't update it because its still open. So I still have this problem...
Can anyone help me?

Hi, so basically I'm using After Effects, and I'm trying to mask out a person in my video. The problem is I've started getting this error that says Unbalanced Unlock 7:40. I have no idea what it means, I've had to constantly restart AE, and now I'm saving every time I adjust my mask slightly, in case the error comes up again and I lose my work. It's become very annoying having to do that, and I can't figure out how to fix it. I've tried searching for the error, and have looked at the other discussion posts with this same exact problem. One of the solutions was to go to Edit>Purge>All Memory & Disk Cache. I've done this multiple times and I'm still getting this error. I have never had this problem before, and was able to mask out other objects earlier without issue. I've just been getting this error since yesterday, and it's making it impossible to get anything done. Even if I click OK on the error it won't go away. Clearing the memory and cache, restarting the program, nor restarting the computer have worked.
I'm using AE CC17, on Windows 10 64 bit.
Any answers regarding this issue would be great, thanks!

I encountered this error today:
After Effects error: Out of memory: the buffer manager cannot provide any more buffers ( 83 :: 2 ). Google didn't provide any results and I upgraded to 2017.2 release today.
Any help for what could be causing this error?
Scenario: A short clip of someone sitting on a chair in front of a wall. There is a large mark on the wall that needs to be cloned out.
The problem: The mark on the wall is behind the person on the chair at head height. The person moves about so sometimes the mark is hidden by their head.
The question: I can use the clone tool but I need to ‘turn it on and off’ as the person moves.

I am still very much an AftereEffects newbie, and I'm trying to figure out the best way to go about removing objects from a video. In this case, I have a video of money falling that I am using for an advertisement. I will have the text come into the composition, and around that time, I'd like to remove some of the bills from the screen to make the text easier to read. I've found a few tutorials, but not sure which would be best for my case. If someone could make a recommendation or point me in the direction of a useful tutorial, I would appreciate it!

I can't see anything in the window, I can hear sound, yes I know it is audio file but I put a audio spectrum effect on it and don't see the composition window and it looks like it is rendering but nothing come ups.
I just got a Lenovo IdeaPad 110 w/ a AMD A9 7th GEN graphics card a few days ago and been wanting to edit videos on it.

Hey, I have an AE question.
I created a kinetic title animation in AE. Composition and export settings are at 1920X1080, looks good when exported.
But when I import it in Premiere Pro and scale it down, it looses a lot of quality. Why is that ?
I am using the latest AE on two different machines (desktop and laptop when away from office). When I load a current project on my laptop, I get a warning that says I need to go Download the missing effect: Drop Shadow. Drop Shadow, to my knowledge, is a native effect... how could I have possibly "lost" this effect on my laptop... or even more perplexing, have an "older" version of it?

Still, how do I update my desktop computer so that it has the 32-bit effect, and not the 8-bit effect?
With the new AE 2017, when I playback footage in the timeline with either Ram preview or spacebar, playback loops indefinitely with a spinning beachball.
It seems to be related to animated shape layers and imported vector assets (.ai and .psd)
I can scrub just fine, and rendering seems to work... but when I preview, it gets stuck in a loop, and force quit is necessary each time.
I've done the usual resetting prefs, restarting computer, trying various files.. etc. To no avail.
I'm on a late 2015 5k Imac, AMD Radeon 2048, running Sierra 10.12.1
Anyone else seeing this issue?

Hello I've installed creative cloud today and have downloaded after effects. when I launch after effects nothing happens. When I mean by nothing. I mean don't even get to the splash screen. I've gone into task manager and it's not listed on opened programs. My pc has all the latest updates. how can I solve this problem? My specs are below if that helps. I've never had this problem when I used after effects on my mac. Anyway thank you.

New to After Effectt and enjoying it very much.
My After Effect was first installed in Korean. Then I found out the names of the effects under animation presets are massed up.
(its not translation of those effects because those alphabets are meaningless.)
so I re-installed the After Effect in English through Adobe CC and yet the problem is still there.
here is what it looks like. It seems I am not the only one who is going through this problem. well at least in Korea.
